Go Dogs! - Fyball

Click here for a Flyball Application!

What is it? If you've never seen flyball, it is a fun, fast and exciting relay race for dogs. Each member of a four-dog team must jump four jumps, hit the box to eject a tennis ball, and return over the four jumps. Two teams run simultaneously, and the first team to complete the run wins the heat. Dogs love flyball, as do their handlers! Both mixed breed and pure-bred dogs can compete in flyball tournaments. See the link below for more information about flyball competition. For information about flyball classes at Go Dogs!, send a message to Crystal.

Classes:
Requirements:
Your dog should be at least one year of age.
No handlers under the age of fourteen shall be allowed unless approved by the instructor.
No aggressive dogs shall be allowed in class, but will be referred for private instruction.
No abuse of dogs will be tolerated.

Beginners Class: The classes are 6 weeks long and cost:
$60.00 plus $4.20 tax = $64.20 (members)
$75.00 plus $5.25 tax = $80.25 (non-members)

In the Beginners Class, we will emphasize foundation skills with care and consideration for the dog. Things that will be taught include having a solid recall, learning to jump, setting a pattern for the turn on the box, retrieving the ball, and proper socialization skills.

Ball motivation is a plus! Along with these basic foundations it is a great place to get your dog exercised (and you too) and have lots of fun! Currently, this class is being held on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

Advanced Beginners Class: The classes are 6 weeks long and cost:
$60.00 plus $4.20 tax = $64.20 (members)
$75.00 plus $5.25 tax = $80.25 (non-members)

Your dog must have completed the Beginners Class or have the proper foundation skills approved by the instructor. In this class we will build on the skills needed for competition, including proper turns on the box with a consistency for ball retrieval as well as as learning the proper way to pass.

Teams: If you take the Advanced Beginners class and are ready to join a team, you can then seek membership to participate with our Flyball teams. The two teams are the Omaha Speed Racers (contact Crystal.; practices on Sundays at 4:30 pm) and the Ball Driven Bandits (with practices on Sundays at 7:00 pm). If you have questions about the Ball Driven Bandits team, contact Mary Palmer or Kerri LiaBraaten.

Breed Requirements: Is my "All-American" dog (i.e., mutt) eligible to compete in flyball? YES! NAFA (North American Flyball Association) welcomes all dogs, both purebreds and "All Americans".

Join a class: If you are interested in reserving a spot for a future beginning flyball class, please send a message to Crystal, or call 393-0507 and leave a message on the answering machine.

Notice: As of October 1, 2003, Go Dogs! is required to collect a 7% sales tax on all classes, and the application has been revised to reflect this change:
